Indiana Wesleyan University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission to award associate, baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Heartland College is not accredited by Higher Learning Commission and the accreditation of Indiana Wesleyan University does not extend to or include Heartland College or its students. Students must be admitted by Indiana Wesleyan University and enrolled in university courses to receive the benefits of regional accreditation.

Additionally, IWU's Wesley Seminary is accredited by the Commission on Accrediting of The Association of Theological Schools.
